LEARN TO SAIL A DINGHY.

Sailing a dinghy is exhilarating and exciting. It is a sailing skill where the knowledge and experience can be applied to many other types of sailing disciplines. The SA Sailing Dinghy Learn to Sail National Pathway is offered from our dinghy sailing base at Redhouse Yacht Club, just outside Port Elizabeth.

The Learn to Sail National Pathway his based on Sports for Life pathway. The dinghy sailing lessons are offered to all ages. As dinghies can capsize, sailors are required to be comfortable in the water and not fearful of swimming.

Once step 6 is successful, Team Sailing can be coached and Team Sailing events can be offered on the custom built TSL dinghies provided by SA Sailing.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

Sailing lessons are offered on the SA Sailing Pico or Topaz. A further choice of boats is a Laser, Sprog, 420 and Mirror.

Life jackets are provided.

Course Content

The course content is made up 6 steps. There are some theory lessons or but no examinations that need to be written. Assessing is done during the training to ensure that the sailor is progressing well.

What to bring?

  • Swimming costumes or leggings that can get wet
  • Wetsuit (if you have)
