BECOME A SOUTH AFRICA SAILING DAY SKIPPER.

The Day Skipper Course covers all aspects of skippering a modern cruising yacht including boat handling, navigation, pilotage and seamanship skills. During the course, you will skipper a short passage under the watchful eye of your instructor and gain the experience and confidence that allow you to skipper a cruising yacht in familiar waters from sunrise until sunset.  Familiar waters are defined as 15 nautical miles from the skippers home port, or 25 miles from their homeport, provided they are no more than 15 nautical miles from an approved safe haven. The course requires candidates to have some sailing experience, or have completed the Competent Crew course, as a prerequisite.
